The 8th CIP Board of Advi­sors Meet­ing held at Purdue

On June 29, CIP held the 8th Board Meet­ing at Hovde Hall, Pur­due Uni­ver­sity. In his open­ing remarks, Dr. Deba Dutta, Provost and Chair of CIP Board, said that Pur­due and SJTU were in strong rela­tion­ship and that CIP was widely sup­ported at Pur­due. Dr. Zhen Huang, Vice Pres­i­dent of SJTU and Vice Chair of CIP Board, empha­sized the value of CIP as a plat­form for pro­mot­ing campus-​wide col­lab­o­ra­tions between Pur­due and SJTU. Board mem­bers reviewed work reports by Dr. Wei Hong, Direc­tor of CIP and Dr. John Lay­ton, Direc­tor of LSC Con­fu­cius Class­room. The Board highly appre­ci­ated the won­der­ful per­for­mances of the Con­fu­cius Insti­tute and Con­fu­cius Class­room. In par­tic­u­lar, the Board con­firmed the impres­sive lead­er­ship of Dr. Wei Hong. The Provost pointed out that CIP could be a use­ful resource for involve­ment in all other cul­tures at Pur­due com­mu­nity. Dr. Wei Hong expressed her heart-​felt appre­ci­a­tion to Pur­due senior lead­er­ship, fac­ulty, schools and depart­ments for their con­tin­u­ous sup­port. The board agreed to add two new board mem­bers from the Kran­nert School of Man­age­ment and Pur­due Poly­tech­nic Insti­tute. The board decided that the next Board Meet­ing be held at SJTU on March 2016.
