On February 8, CIP hosted series of events to celebrate the Chinese New, attracting a large crowd of participants from the campus, community and other nearby colleges. With our first time ever lion dance and traditional Chinese dance, and foods, calligraphy, the festivities become an annual expectation from the University and the community to celebrate the Chinese New Year and truly embrace the cultural diversity here in Greater Lafayette.
On February 12, CIP co-sponsored “The Knights with Wu Man” concert, a chamber orchestra with Chinese music instrument pipa with more than 2000 years of history. Wu Man and the orchestra presented a splendid blend of Western and Eastern music to a packed hall of excited audience from Purdue and the community. The artists also conducted residency workshops for Sunnyside Middle School (about 400 students in musical programs), and the Chinese language classes at Purdue.
