Fall 2013 Basic Man­darin Conversation

The Con­fu­cius Insti­tute will offer Basic Man­darin Chi­nese con­ver­sa­tion course in the Fall

This non-​credit course is designed for com­plete adult begin­ners with no or very lit­tle prior knowl­edge of Man­darin Chi­nese. Focus­ing on spo­ken Chi­nese, this course will train the par­tic­i­pants’ basic con­ver­sa­tional skills in stan­dard Chi­nese with top­ics rang­ing from greet­ing, talk­ing about pro­fes­sions to intro­duc­ing fam­ily and mak­ing small talks. After this course, par­tic­i­pants will be able to func­tion socially in every­day sit­u­a­tions when com­mu­ni­cat­ing with Chi­nese. While mem­o­riz­ing the Chi­nese char­ac­ters is optional, we will also intro­duce the essen­tials of Chi­nese char­ac­ters, or Hanzi, to give the learn­ers a full pic­ture of Man­darin Chi­nese. Course mate­ri­als will be pro­vided. The course will run from Sep­tem­ber 18 to Octo­ber 23, on Wednes­days from 7 to 9pm. Loca­tion will be announced to reg­is­tered participants.
