On November 10, CIP held the CI Director’s media training at Purdue.  Invited speakers include the award winning journalist and anchor Scott Swan, WTHR-13 Indianapolis who spoke to the audience about his dream trip to China in 2008 covering the Beijing Olympics.  He talked about his China experiences, including the site selection, photography and interviews with the local Chinese.  WTHR also interviewed Dr. Wei Hong, CIP director in Hangzhou and her student from Purdue.  Professor Howard Sypher discussed ways to use social media on promoting CIs, and Professor Stacey Connaughton presented ways to cultivating teams in multicultural settings.  In the afternoon, as a highlight of this training, the Directors participated in mock media interviews as a practice and learned ways and strategies in working with the media.  This training was highly successful and the attendees unanimously agreed that such a training was much needed in order for CI directors to be proficient in media relations.
